Since the retaining wall has been finished, it was time to work on the fence. Dad and I had already bout all the materials a few weeks ago, so we were able to get started right away. Dad came over Sunday morning and we got started moving all the pieces out and figuring how to put it all together. We had decided ahead of time that we were going to try to push the posts down using John’s tractor instead of digging holes and cementing them in place. This worked very well for the first 3 terminal poles we tried putting in, and they went in with no real trouble at all. The same could not be said for the next 2 unfortunately. As these ones were on the other side of the yard, the ground is different over there, and they did not have as easy a time to get into the ground. We did manage eventually to get them in deep enough that they were stable, but they were not as deep as the other ones were. All 4 of the line posts went in without a struggle luckily. Once those were up and somewhat at the same height, the top rail went in without any hassle at all. Then came the actual fence fabric. This went pretty good for the most part, just a little bit annoying to stretch it out along the whole length. But we managed it without any real issues. After that was up, we got one of the gates up, which wasn’t that hard at all. That took us the better part of the day, so we stopped there, only getting between the two gates done, But now I know how to get the rest done, and it shouldn’t be as hard as it is a straight run from the edge of the gate to the existing fence at the edge of the property.
